The Chinese have announced a very cheap electric car

It will be unveiled on 29 September.

Chinese company Wuling will soon unveil a compact yet budget-friendly electric sitikar, the NanoEV.

It is noted that Wuling NanoEV should become a cheaper competitor to the very popular electric car Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which caused just incredible excitement in the market with its size and price.

Wuling NanoEV will be a smaller version of Wuling MiniEV, which is one of the most affordable certified production electric vehicles in the world. In China, the Wuling MiniEV costs between 28,800 and 36,200 yuan, which converts to around $4,500 to $5,800. The Wuling NanoEV should be even cheaper.

The Wuling MiniEV electric car is produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling, a joint project of Chinese concern SAIC Motor and American corporation General Motors. Thus, on each electric car the manufacturer earns on average only 15 dollars, but has a significant benefit due to high sales volumes – since July 2020, when the car entered the market, more than 370 thousand MiniEV were sold, making it more popular than even the Tesla Model 3.

What’s more, the tiny electric hatchback has also become General Motors’ best-selling electric car, surpassing Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Buick. Another Chinese manufacturer, Chery, has even decided to copy the MiniEV and sell it under its own brand, like the Chery QQ Ice Cream.

The Wuling NanoEV is expected to be 2.50 meters long, 1.53 meters wide and 1.62 meters tall, with a wheelbase of 1.60 meters. With these parameters, it will be a solid 42 cm shorter than the MiniEV, although it will use the same GSEV platform. Other features have not yet been revealed, but it will be inferior to the MiniEV in all respects, in particular in terms of range, top speed and interior space.
